We're Hiring..
Hiring: Director of Operations
Company: DIYK9® / American Standard Dog Training
Reports to: Founder & CEO (Garret Wing)
Status: Full-Time
Location: Remote (U.S. business-hours availability required)
Position Overview
Do you love taking a fast-growing, founder-led business and building the operational engine that lets it scale?
Are you the person who turns big vision into priorities, deadlines, owners, and measurable outcomes?
Do you get energized by owning systems end to end: CRM, funnels, onboarding, reporting, and the daily operating rhythm of a company?
Then the team at DIYK9® and American Standard Dog Training needs you.
DIYK9® and American Standard Dog Training make up a founder-led dog training company with a team of roughly 20 employees and contractors. The business spans DIYK9® online education, board-and-train services, the American Standard Academy for Professional Dog Trainers, and the ASK9 franchise network now being built for Academy graduates.
The founder, Garret Wing, is responsible for creating the audience, building the brand, producing content, and driving traffic. The Director of Operations owns what happens after the audience arrives. This person becomes the founder's trusted operational partner: creating clarity, driving accountability, and building the systems that let the company grow without depending on the founder for day-to-day execution.
This is a hands-on leadership role, not a delegate-from-a-distance role. You will build, inspect, and improve real systems across the business, with a focus on creating and running the operational infrastructure across the entire company.
You are the ideal candidate if you:
- Have led operations in a founder-led, entrepreneurial company
- Have franchise, multi-location, or multi-vertical operations experience
- Have worked at the intersection of operations and marketing (funnels, CRM, pipelines, automations, websites)
- Bring real judgment and leadership, not just task execution
- Are AI-fluent and excited to build AI into how a company operates
- Are obsessive about details, follow-through, and finishing what you start
- Move fast, take ownership, and hold others accountable without drama
This is a company that moves at the founder's pace: quickly, directly, and with high standards. The right person finds that energizing, not exhausting.
Responsibilities
Operational Leadership and Accountability
- Own the day-to-day operating rhythm across DIYK9®, American Standard Dog Training, and the Academy
- Translate the founder's vision into priorities, deadlines, owners, and measurable outcomes
- Run weekly leadership, scorecard, and accountability meetings; ensure every initiative has a clear owner and definition of done
- Build company-wide scorecards, dashboards, SOPs, and reporting so leadership always knows what is working and what is not
- Ensure that project management and project management infrastructure is built, maintained and followed by the team
- Identify underperformance, redundancy, waste, and organizational risk; bring the founder recommendations and solutions rather than unresolved problems
- Reduce the founder's involvement in daily project management and follow-up
Franchise Operations (ASK9)
- Build, launch, and scale the franchise operating system so franchisees receive a world-class experience
- Own franchisee onboarding from Academy graduation into franchise ownership, including the transition of recent Academy graduates into the program
- Oversee the buildout of the franchise program's website and CRM, then run the platform after launch (a GoHighLevel specialist will handle the initial build)
- Create repeatable website, funnel, and CRM templates that can be deployed efficiently for each new franchisee
- Train franchisees on the platform and sales process; track lead volume, response time, appointments, close rates, and revenue across the network
- Onboard approximately 10-20 new franchisees per year while maintaining quality standards and franchisee profitability
Systems, CRM, and Customer Journey
- Own the customer journey in GoHighLevel: CRM architecture, pipelines, automations, scheduling, communications, and dashboards
- Audit, improve and oversee team that works on funnels, websites, email and SMS follow-up, checkout, and conversion paths across the business
- Revive and optimize the online store
- Lay the operational foundations for AI across the company, starting with customer service, sales pipelines, and text messaging
- Coordinate technical resources and vendors; be technically fluent enough to inspect builds and step in hands-on when necessary
- Ensure critical systems, permissions, automations, and processes are documented and backed up
Team and Financial Discipline
- Manage employees, contractors, and department leads; coach, restructure, replace, or hire as needed
- Coordinate priorities across customer service, community, production, sales, and web/GHL support resources
- Understand the P&L and use financial data to improve profitability and resource allocation
- Own major projects from idea through launch and post-launch evaluation; prevent projects from stalling
Requirements
This position is for a person who is:
- Hands-on and execution-oriented
- Decisive and commercially minded
- Highly organized with extreme attention to detail
- High-energy and self-driven
- Comfortable with accountability and direct conversations
- Systems-oriented and process-driven
- Analytical and data-driven
- Fast-moving with a strong bias toward action
- Able to challenge the founder respectfully and convert changing priorities into an executable plan
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, founder-led environment
Additional requirements:
- Proven experience running operations for a founder-led company, business unit, or cross-functional team
- Franchise or multi-vertical operations experience strongly preferred
- Working proficiency in GoHighLevel: funnels, CRM, pipelines, automations, and website management
- Understanding of funnels, email/SMS follow-up, conversion, retention, and customer journeys
- Experience managing remote teams and holding people accountable to outcomes
- Experience reviewing a P&L and making decisions based on profitability, not just marketing metrics
- Fluency with AI tools and workflows, and the ability to apply them to real operations
- U.S. business-hours availability; responsive when it matters, including the occasional weekend call
This position is NOT for someone who:
- Wants to be hands-off instead of getting into the details
- Needs a fully built corporate structure to operate
- Treats the role as a strict 40-hours-and-nothing-more job
- Avoids conflict or hesitates to hold people accountable
- Focuses on activity instead of outcomes
- Is uncomfortable with speed, change, or direct communication
- Needs to be told what to do next
Software Utilized by Company

- Shopify
- AI tools for operations, customer service, and marketing
- Analytics and heatmapping tools (e.g., Hotjar)

Offer Details
- Full-time remote role (local to the team is a plus, not a requirement)
- Annual compensation depending on experience, expertise, and overall fit for the position with a strong opportunity for advancement and growth
- Work directly with the founder as his operational right hand
- High-ownership role with real authority: manage the team, enforce standards, approve routine expenses within an agreed budget, and launch improvements without waiting for approval on routine matters
- Ground-floor leadership of a national franchise system with a vision of 50–100 locations over the next 5–10 years
